  1. Harrison,

Your police report stories are coming along fine, but we need some careful editing to fix some things on them. You and I will talk specifically at class today, so we can put these stories away with a good grade. OK? Thanks.

    Dr. Webb

  2. Harrison,

Once you get into the story it goes pretty well. But it’s necessary to work on two things to bring this up to where it needs to be. First, the lead is weak. It should really be a carefully picked quotation, one that does get to the heart of what she wants to say. This one doesn’t get that said. Second, the speech is fairly long and complex, and you must do not have enough of the speech in your story. From your story the reader would be confused, not understanding her unique and really good argument. We need to do some reworking here. OK?

  3. Harrison,

You have played catch-up a good part of the semester, but you have done it, for the most part. Your last stories, the literary pieces, are not bad–they do catch the flavor we are looking for–but they are just too short, sort of half-stories. When it comes to your profiles, which we have talked about on a couple of occasions, what you have done it not badly written. It just has no form to it. Or, rather, it has the wrong form. If you look at what you have here, each one of the three stories is one long paragraph. It is not in any kind of literary form. We need it broken into paragraphs and written as you have the two literary pieces. I have tried to read my way through them, which is not easy, and they are written fairly well. If only they were “fixed.” Grade for the course this semester is a B-.

  4. Overall good review. I think you could have mentioned how the end fight scene was too shaky with the camera. I agree with you about adding length and a few more known actors though. Nice review.

  5. The Reach’s plan was based on the original Blue Beetle (2006-2009) comic book several years ago. If anything, Supernatural’s is similar to the Reach.

  6. Like most Bay films, it does run too long for its own good and deflates a bit in the third act, but it kept me entertained for the most part. Good review.

  7. […] “My Spidey Sense is tingling” is as classic to the character of Spider-Man as ” With great power comes great responsibility”. The Spider-Sense has been one of the main abilities in every iteration of the web-slinger in print, television, and film. The Spider-Sense alerts Spider-Man to incoming danger even if he can’t see it. Only very few characters, such as Venom and Scorpion, have been able to get past this early warning system undetected. However, this ability was indeed left out of Spider-Man: Homecoming. […]

  8. Hey, I just had a look at your blog and you’ve got some very interesting content on here. This one caught my attention because like the rest of the world I’m beyond excited to see Homecoming! Been waiting to see more Spider-Man since Civil War! Nice piece!

Would you be interested in sharing your work on Movie Pilot? I’d like to invite you to join the platform, and I’d love to hear from you so I can to expand on that. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail, my contact details are on my “About” page. Hopefully talk soon!

  9. I didn’t think it was left out of Homecoming, they just never called attention to it like they have in the other movies. I found there were plenty of instances where they showed his Spider Sense.

  10. […] I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The Rock makes everything better. This hulk of a man has clawed his way to the top of Hollywood’s elite actors. He has a presence in every film that he is a part of even if it’s a small role. And that is why I think he’d make a great Razoul. It may be a small role, but I imagine The Rock would make it feel big. He has good comedic timing. He can be fierce and intimidating. That is why he would be a great choice as the Captain of the Royal Guard. Just mentioning his name while promoting the film guarantees butts in seats. […]

  11. […] I had a great time at the theater. I heard more laughs from the audience of this film than I did in The Hitman’s Bodyguard. I’m excited for the sequel and hope that some of the Losers Club gets their ideal adult selves […]

  12. […] This Is the End is one of the smartest, funniest comedies in the past decade. The film stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, and many other real-life actors playing fictionalized versions of themselves trying to survive in the aftermath of the Biblical Apocalypse. The film did have a script, but a lot of the dialogue was improvised by the actors. This Is the End received mostly positive reviews from critics and holds the title of being the last movie to be officially rented by Blockbuster Video before they went out of business at 11:00 p.m. on November 9, 2013. The film also gave us the Backstreet Boys reunion we always wanted. […]

  13. I thought the latest movie was disappointing. I would be okay if they recast Princess Leia or with her being a Force ghost. I do not want them to kill her off or to go back on their word and decide to use digital recreation instead of a real actress.

  14. Please, let it be real. I don’t like Ben Affleck as a person, but as a professional, as an actor and director, he is great. And Henry is the best Superman actor in years, he deserves to shine more.

  15. Great review; spot on. Agree with the rating. Nothing will top the original. Fun comedy for music lovers. We went and saw it two nights ago.

  16. […] Darkest Hour is a British biographical war drama film directed by Joe Wright and written by Anthony McCarten. The film stars Gary Oldman, Ben Mendelsohn, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane, and Ronald Pickup. The story follows Winston Churchill during his first days as Prime Minister, while Hitler closes in on Britain during World War II. Joe Wright does a great job at directing many of the scenes in this film. He manages to both capture the feeling in the room and display everyone’s thoughts without even using words. The costume design and makeup in the film give the audience a feel for being in a WWII era Europe. Getting this right is important for any period piece. Gary Oldman is Winston Churchill in this film. It looks as if the studio went back in time and snagged Churchill from 1940 and asked him to play himself in their film. The way Oldman Oldman spoke and looked was identical to the way Churchill sounded. He may have overdone it on his mumbling, but he was still entertaining. His interaction with the other political contemporaries is interesting to see and hear. Kristin Scott Thomas is quite enjoyable as Clementine Churchill. Her role is more comical and involved than expected. Due to Churchill handling a lot of his business at home, the audience is treated to much of their interaction. She helps bring out more of the emotional side of Churchill that isn’t often seen by the public. Ben Mendelsohn is enjoyable as King George VI in a role that is more of an extended cameo. In his few scenes with Churchill and other characters, Mendelsohn manages to deliver a few laughs and heartening lines. It would be great to see an entire film about King George VI with Ben Mendelsohn in the starring role. Lily James is fine as Churchill’s personal secretary Elizabeth Layton, but her character feels very unnecessary to the plot. Due to the film focusing more on the politics of Britain during World War II, there isn’t any action. A two-hour film based on war that doesn’t show footage of the war should be able to hold its own with dialogue and drama. While Darkest Hour does have many dramatic moments, the dialogue isn’t intriguing nor engaging enough to keep the viewer’s interest, so at times the film lags and feels slow. I give Darkest Hour a Normal 6.5/10. The film serves as a suitable history lesson that would make an educational double feature with Dunkirk. […]

  17. […] Creed is a phenomenal film with a great story and lots of emotion. Director Ryan Coogler did a great job at putting the Rocky franchise back in the spotlight with the film grossing over $110 million at the global box office and earning Sylvester Stallone an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Of course, many fans have been dying to know when a sequel would be released. Ryan Coogler stated that he was interested in making a sequel if the right story came along and Sylvester Stallone, the writer, and star of the first six films, was right there with him. Creed II was originally slated to be released in November 2017 but was delayed due to Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s involvement in Black Panther. […]

  18. I Would Love to see the animated series get another swing. I loved the show freeing up, love it now and my son loves it now (the episodes I can find). He carries around my action figures (which are 21 years old now).

  19. When you say “There are also a few characters who could have been more developed so that the audience could have empathized with them better.” what exactly do you mean?

  20. If I may add … was the inconsistent use of powers the only continuity error you felt or were there others you spotted? Because I feel the usage of powers can be explained by the passage of time in between movies; these heroes are constantly building things and learning new stuff.

  21. Good guess about her being invisible and mirroring. It made me think of the scene in the car when Dennis/Kevin kidnaps the girls and he doesn’t notice Casey in the front seat. It’s almost like she wasn’t there, not until she opens the door and the door sound goes off. Interesting.

  22. I think apollos other children have to be in the film but it would be an idea for creed 3 that apollos other son is also a boxer fighting under a different name also and and adonis and he’s half brother have a showdown that could make for a great creed 3

  23. Casey is the whisperer. She has the ability to make anyone follow her orders. This is referenced in split with her ordering the other captive girls to follow her instruction and her ordering the beast. M. Night also includes scenes with her ordering the doctor in Mr. Glass, she orders Kevin, and a brief glimpse of a comic called The Whisperer. Sounds like her powers were an Easter egg in the movie. At least imo

    • Staple is the Whisperer. That was the twist, the whole time she was a super, and was using her powers to convince other supers that they were ordinary. She pretty much says so at the end.

  24. Ridiculous. Oda is starting to lose it. But if we are to follow that logic it’s a special type logia, not paramecia.

  25. Katakuri, unlike Logias, has the ability to use and be hit by armament haki on parts of his body that are transformed (see buzzcut mochi). Logias are shown using haki with their ‘real’ body parts (at least smoker and Sabo are, have we even seen any others use armament post-timeskip?) So Katakuri’s ‘real’ body is actually made of mochi, in the same way that Luffy’s is rubber, maybe?

  26. Hmm iit seems like your site ate my first comment (it was super
long) so I guess I’ll just ssum it up what I had written and
say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring
blog writer but I’m still new too everything. Do you have any helpful hints for first-time
blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Likewise, Devil Fruits that change the user’s body into a substance but don’t bestow the power to create and control said substance are also classified as Paramecia. Furthermore, even if all three requirements are met but the substance itself is not a naturally occurring element or force of nature, then it cannot be classified as a Logia, something proven by the existence of the Mochi-Mochi Fruit, which is considered a “Special Paramecia”. 29. I believe Apollo’s other son does actually appear in Creed though it is only mentioned briefly. He is the trainer of the fighter named Danny “Stuntman” Wheeler and it is only mentioned in the short clip of the tv show about Conlan.

    • That was Tony “Little Duke” Evers that trains Wheeler in Creed and Creed II. He is the son of Creed’s and later Rocky’s trainer Tony “Duke” Evers.

The film was delayed numerous times due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and was eventually released on HBO Max. Nonetheless, the film turned out to be a hit for the streaming service, even if the critics did not appreciate it as much as the first film. You can check out our review of the film here. […]

    • Yes steam would make a great Logia Devil Fruit! Unfortunately though this was already used in One Piece: Grand Adventure as a replacement for Smoker’s Plume Plume Fruit and Oda doesn’t like double dipping. Also steam is a gas and thus technically under the umbrella of the Gas Gas Fruit.

  36. […] Star Wars: Visions is the first anime to be made exclusively for Disney+. It was met with acclaim by fans and critics alike, with both clamoring for a second season. The success of this show begs the question of will there be any more anime made for Disney+? The answer should be yes. The platform certainly lacks in the anime department which is shocking as Disney’s original cartoons are the inspiration behind all modern anime. Also, with Netflix going full steam ahead with their original anime series Disney+ should expand their anime library as soon as possible if they want to keep up. […]

The original cast was a mix of known stars and relative newcomers with many of the child actors going on to more prominent roles. Each season they add a few new cast members who instantly feel like they belong. The trend continues with the additions of Argyle (Eduardo Franco) and Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). Argyle is the new stoner friend of Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) out in California and Eddie leads the Hellfire Club, a D&D group at Hawkins High, attended by Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). 54. Reviews of The Gray Man are mixed but if you liked the intermittently fast and furious pace of Bill Fairclough’s epic fact based spy novel Beyond Enkription in The Burlington Files series then you will love Anthony Russo’s The Gray Man and vice versa. They both make parts of Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne series look like slow horses! The Gray Man is about a renegade CIA agent on the run and stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans; it’s based on Mark Greaney’s debut novel of the same name. Fairclough’s factual stand-alone thriller Beyond Enkription is about a (real life) MI6 agent on the run from international organised crime gangs and Haiti’s TonTon Macoute from London to Nassau and Port au Prince to Miami. The Gray Man and The Burlington Files are both musts for espionage aficionados. The difference between them is that The Burlington Files series has had mainly five star reviews, it’s full of real characters and was written for espionage cognoscenti some of whom won’t have even heard of the ingenious spycraft tricks featured in this electrifying novel.
