Who Were the Other Two Admirals Alongside Sengoku?

So far in One Piece, there have been three marine Admirals operating at once. Marine Admirals are renowned as the World Government’s “Greatest Military Powers,” being considered not only the strongest active Marines (aside from the Fleet Admiral) but the strongest individual fighters within the entire government. As such, these three are respected and feared by marines and pirates alike. When one is promoted or vacates their position it is quickly filled by another strong marine.

Usually, Oda has a scheme around how they are connected. Sakazuki, Kuzan, and Borsalino are connected by the three primary colors; red, blue, and yellow. Also, all three had Logia Devil Fruit abilities controlling magma, ice, and light respectively. Lastly, their epithets, Akainu (Red Dog), Aokiji (Blue Pheasant), and Kizaru (Yellow Monkey) are taken from Momotarō Legends. A pheasant, a dog, and a monkey assisted the boy hero, Momotarō, on his adventures. The current Admirals are Kizaru (Yellow Monkey), Fujitora (Wisteria Tiger), and Ryokugyu (Green Bull). Yellow, purple, and green are complementary colors. Fujitora and Ryokugyu’s animal aliases, tiger and bull, are the representation of the northeastern quarter where the ogre that Momotarō must kill lives. Lastly, with Kizaru having a Logia Devil Fruit and Fujitora having a Paramecia Devil Fruit, we can assume Ryokugyu will have a Zoan Devil Fruit.

Prior to Akainu, Aokiji, Kizaru, Fujitora, and Ryokugyu we know that Sengoku was a marine Admiral. What we do not know is who the other two Admirals alongside Sengoku were? We know during this time Garp was offered a promotion to Admiral many times from Fleet Admiral Kong, but he declined every time. With a little bit of research and a lot of guesswork we can identify the best candidates to fill those other two slots, their epithets, and the Devil Fruits they had.

Kinotoke

Not much is known about Sengoku’s early life, other than he is originally from the South Blue and joined the Marines at the age of 23 along with Garp and Tsuru. Over the years, Sengoku would rise up through the ranks of the Marines, achieving the rank of Admiral and eventually Fleet Admiral. Considering that Sengoku ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu we can guess that all Admirals during his era also had Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits. Also, noticing his Buddha form is gold, their color scheme was probably gold, silver, and bronze. Knowing how much Oda likes to play with names, his real name is probably Sengoku D. Buddha with his first name mimicking his Devil Fruit ability and his surname having an “ape” theme. Sengoku is a “variant spelling” of Son Goku, Japanese for Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from Journey to the West. Kinotoke literally means “Gold Buddha.”

Ginryu

Very little is known of Dragon’s early life, other than he is the son of Monkey D. Garp and was born in the Goa Kingdom. Since Garp was adamant that Ace and Luffy become marines, it is highly likely he wanted that for his son as well. More than likely Dragon rose through the ranks of the marines eventually reaching Admiral before leaving the organization after realizing the World Government and its corrupt nobility system allows its World Nobles to oppress lower-class citizens as they please. Ryūjin is the guardian deity of the sea in Japanese mythology. He had the ability to transform, heal and bring about thunderstorms. With his surname being “Monkey” he fits the ape theme. The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Ryūjin could potentially be the Devil Fruit of Monkey D. Dragon due to the weather drastically changing whenever he appears and his first name potentially mimicking his Devil Fruit ability. Ginryu literally means “Silver Dragon.”

Dōzou

Not much is known about Commander-in-Chief Kong’s past, other than by the time of the Edd War, he held the rank of Fleet Admiral of the Marines. A position that can only be obtained if you were previously an Admiral. Ganesha is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. Identified by having the head of an elephant, reddish-brown color, with four arms and a big belly. With his name being “Kong,” he fits the ape themed naming scheme as as Kong is an abbreviation of Sun Wukong and King Kong. The Zou Zou no Mi, Model: Ganesha could potentially be the Devil Fruit of Kong as it fits the color scheme. Lastly, many characters in One Piece wield a Devil Fruit reminiscent of their names. Vice Admiral Onigumo has spider Devil Fruit, Vice Admiral Dalmatian has a Dalmatian Devil Fruit, Karasu has a “crow” Devil Fruit, Baron Tamago has the Egg-Egg Fruit, etc. This leads me to believe that his full name is Kong D. Elephant. Dōzou literally means “Bronze Elephant.”

However, there is also the fan theory that Commander-in-Chief Kong is actually Garp’s father due to the scar over his left eye. Something shared by every member of the Monkey family (Ace and Sabo as well if you include their freckles and burn respectively). This would make his full name Monkey D. Kong. If this is the case his Devil Fruit could be the Saru Saru no Mi, Model: Son Goku and his epithet Dōsaru which literally means “Bronze Monkey.”

What do you think of my list? Who do you think the other two Admirals alongside Sengoku were? Leave your comments below!

  1. you forgot admiral Zephyr. most likely the admiral before one piece releasing were: sakazuki, zephyr and sengoku. fleet admiral was kong. kong then got promoted to commander of governement forces. and sengoku became fleet admiral. this time aokiji/kuzan became admiral. later zephyr left the marines. and kizaru became admiral. BUT maybe in between all that dragon could be an admiral too. thats a really well received theory.
