Scream (2022) is a meta slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett starring newcomers Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Mikey Madison, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnette, Sonia Ben Ammar, and Jack Quaid, alongside returning stars Marley Shelton, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell. It is the fifth installment in the Scream film series and the first in the series not to be directed by Wes Craven. The story follows Sam Carpenter, a troubled young woman who returns to Woodsboro after a new killer donning the Ghostface mask brutally attacks her younger sister Tara. Once there the killer begins targeting Sam and her sister’s group of friends leaving her to ask for help from previous Ghostface survivors Dewey Riley, Gale Weathers, and Sydney Prescott.
