‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Comic-Con Trailer Review

I’ve never done one of these before so bear with me. Please note that there are SPOILERS AHEAD! Now, this trailer was magnificent! I can already tell that this movie will be extraepic™! The trailer opens with Professor X’s voice talking about the last thing he remembers is having a glimpse into the past. I assume this was right before Jean obliterated him in X-Men: The Last Stand. His life must have flashed before his eyes and he found a way where if a certain event changed their future wouldn’t have taken such a darker path. During this, we see clips of Wolverine and Storm. Wolverine now sporting some gray hairs and Storm a shorter haircut. Since Wolverine doesn’t age like everyone else I believe these gray hairs are from the stress of running from and fighting sentinels.  We then see Bobby, Kitty, and Rogue insinuating that there may be a love triangle between them. This would make sense as we all know the mutant cure wasn’t as permanent as previously thought. We then hear Magneto saying that he will be needed as well to end this war before it ever began. This message overlays clips of Bishop, Blink, Colossus, Sunspot, and Warpath. Then we hear the plan about sending Wolverine’s mind to his younger body so he can alert the younger Xavier and Erik about the dark future he is from. How this will be done is unknown, but apparently, Kitty’s phasing ability makes it work. Xavier tells Logan to be patient with his younger self to which Logan replies isn’t his strongest suit. The trailer then shows various clips taking place in the 1970s with Mystique being chased, people shooting Logan, Magneto hovering over a panicking crowd, and then fighting Beast in a fountain. The trailer ends with old Xavier telling his younger self that they need him to hope again. What made this trailer just perfect was the “Time” theme from Inception. It fit the mood just right and sounded beautiful. I know this is just a Comic-Con trailer and a lot will change when the real trailer comes out, but they better keep the same music. I can’t wait for this movie to come out and I have hopes that it will be the best film of 2014 and topple The Avengers if they market it right!
